Cunniffe '93, Moffa '09, Smith '11 Inducted into Lacrosse Hall of Fame

The Fordham Prep Lacrosse Dinner and Hall of Fame Induction ceremony held at Rory Dolan’s this past Friday was a resounding success!  Over 140 lacrosse players, family, and alumni gathered to recapture the memories from previous years, look ahead to an exciting new season, and honor Daniel Cunniffe ’93, Chris Moffa ’09, and Chris Smith ‘11 as inductees into our Lacrosse Hall of Fame.  All three alums had stellar lacrosse careers at the Prep and we welcome them into the Hall of Fame for their accomplishments.

Daniel Cunniffe '93: A native of Waccabuc, Dan was a three year member of the varsity team, serving as captain both his junior and senior years.  He was team MVP (’92,’93), named first team All-Westchester County (’93), All-League (’92,’93) and was a member of the 1992 NYC Empire State Games team.  As a senior, Dan led the team in points (43G/34A), helping the team complete its first ever undefeated season (19-0) and win its first ever City Championship.  After Fordham Prep, Dan went on to play football at Georgetown.  He was named captain during his senior year and was part of a Georgetown defensive squad that led all Division 1-AA schools in total defense.

Christopher Moffa '09: A native of Yonkers, Christopher was a four-year varsity letter winner, two-time All-American, and team captain his junior and senior years.  He was a part of the 2006 CHSAA City Championship team.  Through his playing career he was named All-Conference Second Team, 3x All-Conference First Team, 3x All-Metro First Team, CHSAA Goalie of the Year in 2009, Metro Goalie of the Year in 2008 and 2009, and selected as an alternate to the Hudson Valley Empire State Games team his sophomore and junior year.  Christopher finished his career with over 700 saves and a 70% save percentage.  After Fordham Prep, Christopher continued his lacrosse career at St. Joseph’s University where he served as team captain his senior year.

Christopher Smith '11: A native of Rye, Chris was a three year member of the varsity team, serving as captain both his junior and senior years. He was a member of the 2011 CHSAA City Championship team and finished his career with 150 Points (128G/22A).  Chris was a 2011 All-American, 2x Team MVP (’10, ’11), 2x First Team All-League (’10, ’11), and 2x New York Post First Team All City (’10, ’11).  After Fordham Prep, Chris was a four-year letter winner at Holy Cross where he received the Major Robert E. Mand Coaches Award in 2014 and Team Defensive MVP in 2015.

Thanks to the donations of our guests, silent auction donors, raffle donors, and our dinner sponsors, we raised over $24,000 which will cover equipment and season costs, as well as underwriting additional season expenses.  We will also be sending two Bronx Lacrosse boys to HAP this summer!
