The Rams started the week with a hard fought battle against Stepinac, losing 8 - 5.  The teams traded goals for the first half, knotted up at 1 - 1 and 3 - 3 after the first two quarters.  The back and forth continued until late in the third quarter when the Crusaders took a 6 - 5 lead with two seconds remaining.

The Rams started last week off with a solid win against Long Island Lutheran, picking up a 7 - 6 victory and avenging last year’s two goal loss. 

The Rams picked up a solid win Saturday versus Guilderland HS, bouncing back from two losses earlier in the week to Bronxville HS and Long Island’s Port Washington HS. 

The Prep took home two quality wins last week, versus Cardinal Hayes and Kellenberg Memorial, with the win against Hayes keeping the Duffy Cup on Rose Hill.  The Rams and Cardinals were knotted up 4 - 4 after a quarter before the Prep took a one goal lead at the half. 

Last week the Rams beat Poly Prep 14 - 4 before heading up to Rhode Island for a pair of rematches from their trip to the Ocean State last year.  The Prep fell to Moses Brown by a goal, its second one goal loss of the season, before rebounding to beat Barrington HS by three goals.

In the lone game of the week, the Rams started out strong against Bergen Catholic (NJ) taking an early 2 - 0 lead and extending it to 5 - 1 before the Crusaders same storming back in the second quarter.  The Prep dominated the first quarter and a half with solid offense and strong defense until Bergen Catholic ripped off four in a row in the last few minutes of the second quarter to tie it 5 - 5 at the half.

The Fordham Prep lacrosse season started this past week down in Florida with the team participating in the Jesuit Lacrosse Classic.  The squad almost came away with a clean 3 - 0 sweep with wins against Jesuit High School - Tampa (FL) and Rockhurst Jesuit (MO), but fell to Belen Jesuit (FL) by a goal in game one. 

We’re excited to kick off another Fordham Prep lacrosse season and are looking forward to once again keeping the Prep lacrosse community abreast of all things FP lax related. 

The Fordham Prep Lacrosse Season Kickoff and Hall of Fame Induction ceremony held at Rory Dolan’s this past Saturday, March 14th was another resounding success!  Over 120 lacrosse players, family, and alumni gathered to recapture the memories from previous years, look ahead to an exciting new season, and honor Anthony Marciano ‘90 as our newest inductee into the Lacrosse Hall of Fame.

The Rams took down Stepinac on Tuesday, breaking an eight game regular season and playoff losing streak dating back to 2021.  The teams were relatively even in several stats (groundballs, time of possession, faceoffs), but the Rams’ ability to clear the ball better (18 for 19), have more success on rides, and a few more saves made the difference in the game.

The Rams went 2 - 1 on their Spring Break trip to Rhode Island, narrowly missing coming home 3 - 0 with a one goal loss in their first matchup.

The Rams went 1 - 1 last week out on Long Island, taking home a solid win against St. John the Baptist and falling to #9 ranked Chaminade.  The Rams spotted SJB a three goal lead, looking like they “were still on the bus,” but played arguably their best two quarters of the season in the second half, dominating the Cougars after being tied 6 - 6 at halftime.

The Rams started the week off on a high note with a dominating 11 - 1 win over Hackley, which happened to be the 400th win in Fordham Prep lacrosse program history.

The Rams went 1 - 1 on the week starting with a tough 17 - 3 loss to Half Hollow Hills, one of the top teams on Long Island and full of high level college commits.  The boys rebounded in dominating fashion to take down Poly Prep in Brooklyn by a score of 16 - 3.

The Fordham Prep lacrosse season started with two tough losses to Belen Jesuit (FL) and Mountain Vista (CO).

Bronx, New York, October 16, 2024 – Fordham Preparatory School is thrilled to announce the hiring of Tom Prior as the next head coach of its varsity lacrosse program.

Another season of Fordham Prep lacrosse is behind us and it certainly was a memorable one to build on the program’s history.  The 2024 squad made it to the CHSAA ‘AA’ semifinal game, unfortunately losing to Stepinac.

Both the Varsity and JV seasons came to an end last week with losses in the CHSAA playoffs.  The Varsity fell to Stepinac 14 - 8 in the semi-finals and the Crusaders then went on to beat Iona Prep 14 - 9 for the CHSAA title.  The JV beat Stepinac 14 - 10 in the semi-finals before falling to Iona Prep 14 - 7 in the Championship.

The Rams took home an exciting and memorable 5 - 4 overtime win against Wilton (CT) Saturday afternoon in historic Gaelic Park at Manhattan College.

One of these weeks the Prep will actually be able to play/finish all the teams on its schedule.  This week’s headache was the game versus Hackley getting postponed at halftime due to weather and is in the process of (hopefully) getting rescheduled to finish.  

On Saturday the Rams took home a victory against Kellenberg, defeating the Firebirds 9 - 6 under the lights on Senior Night.  It was a great game to watch, the best all around team effort this season, and we had a robust sideline of family, alums, students, and friends.  

The Rams lost both their contests this past week falling to a strong Lohud.com top-10 ranked Bronxville team and #21 nationally ranked Chaminade.  

“Groundballs win games” is a phrase we try to instill in even the youngest of players we coach and the Prep’s two games this past week were a testament to that mantra.  The Rams scooped up 51 (to Poly Prep’s 22) and 38 (to Riverdale’s 14) groundballs, which alongside continued dominance at the faceoff-X by James Spring ‘24 (Bronxville) - 87% win percentage, Fordham had plenty of possessions to get the ball in the net and come away with two wins.

For the second week in a row Fordham had a game canceled, this time due to the CHSAA blocking the game versus Greenwich Country Day for a reason we’re still scratching our head about.  However, the team had a great few days down in Florida playing two games and attending the Marlins game.

The Rams played only one game this past week after the St. Dominic's game was canceled at the last minute (the issue was on the St. Dom’s side).  The only game action for the Prep was the inaugural Battle of the Bronx for the Duffy Cup versus Cardinal Hayes.

The Fordham Prep lacrosse season started on a high note as the Rams executed a solid 11 - 7 win over Bethlehem Central on Murphy Field.
